48 hours ~ London Liberty

After my stop in Paris, I took a 2-hour train ride into London and spent the last 48 hours eating and sightseeing. Arriving around dinner time, I was recommended by family to try out some Indian food. Living in LA, Indian restaurants are uncommon and not popular among LA natives. However, in London, Indian cuisines are extremely easy to find on every block especially near Covent Garden. Since the wait time for Dishoom was 2 hours, I found another place near by called Talli Joe.

A more modern take on Indian cuisines with a full stack bar inside. Nonetheless, their chicken and lamb dishes were great. The concept of the restaurant is “try a little bit of everything”. Dishes were small but cheap enough to get a little of everything to try with friends. Off to a great start in London! Since the night was still young, I traveled over to Chinatown and Tower bridge to enjoy the nightlife and view of London.

The next day, I decided to visit the most touristy area of London. Since my hotel was right across from Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. I had to trek over and see the sites for myself. Of course, I had to take the most iconic touristy photo of the red telephone booth with Big Ben in the background. Westminster Abbey Church reminded me so much of Notre Dame, but just as architecturally pleasing as the other. I made way way over to Picadilly square, the shopping area of London. The rainbow color buildings made the area come alive, and I couldn’t leave without taking a picture. For food, I had to try fish and chips. The size of the fish was the length of half my arm! For dinner, I found a $10 steak restaurant called Flat Iron. Steak was a little chewy for my taste, but for the price, you can’t beat it. And last but not least, I got myself some coffee in the cafe next door. Orange-dimmed neon lights gave it a grungy vibe, and coffee had a strong roast taste. Great way to stay warm during the London cold.
